I know what we will be watching Saturday night! What a mess with the BCS I am just glad OU came out of top of it. As Mary says "Football whoo hoo"

Busy week not much to talk about
My sister’s both had birthdays in the last two days. They are getting old 38 and 40 - wow!! Theresa got a happy surprise. Chris is taking her to Hawaii for her birthday present. I wonder if the trip will inspire her to start this digital scrapbook stuff?? I guess I am in a funk. I just realized this morning I have not taken any pictures in November. I guess I will have to make up for that tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving – yikes Christmas is less than a month away, that does not help my already churning stomach.

Eating my way to a better life
Scientifically how is it possible to gain 5 pounds in less than a week for someone who can’t lose more than a pound a week? Is there some advanced physics equation, perhaps something better than a D+ in Calculus would have helped me here. Pretty much I am eating every kind of junk available here at the office, candy, granola bars and more chocolate. My fat pants are tight and I am wearing Spanx today to keep everything in (i.e. so I can button and zip them) , if it works for Eva Longoria its good enough for me! I am hoping being uncomfortable will be enough to keep me out of the candy. Why can’t I be one of those people who lose weight when their life is in the crapper?

The Big 3
Could we please get a bailout to go with our private jets? Seriously of all the times to take a commercial flight and sit with the little people - even if you have to sit in the middle seat. Wow!

Links to the broadcasts about Mitzi
3 out of 5 of the local stations came out to the place to interview Courtney yesterday. I wasn’t going to post these but if it helps find whoever did this I will take the chance.

Make mine a triple
I am trying to function on 3 hours sleep. I am not sure what the issue is. Mary poking me in the eye (in her sleep), Hopey and Bucky having to get up 27 times and one of them having the worst gas imaginable may have something to do with it. I will be stopping at Starbucks this morning for sure so I don’t fall asleep driving during my way in. I did get some work done, picked up the toys in the family room and placed a Gymboree order for Mary. I just hope I can get though today without too much drama.

Media day
Anyone who knows me very well knows I cannot sit idly by and wait for anything. Accordingly I have emailed the story about Mitzi along with pictures and video to all the local new stations. Courtney has done 2 interviews and waiting to do her third out at the place. I admit I am a little nervous if anything she said could be twisted – surely no one would do that right? I mean we are the victims. I have prepared fliers, ordered signs the mass mailing is next on my list. I just hope Courtney doesn’t sound like one of the people that they seem to interview after a tornado here, she does have all her teeth so that’s a plus.

Goodbye Mitzi we love you
How do you memorialize a friend that has been part of your life for over 5-1/2 years? I can’t think of the “horses” without Mitzi coming to mind, so much a part of the place, so much a part of our lives. Definitely one of my favorites if not my favorite, I have so much history and good memories of her.
Courtney named her, at first I thought “Mitzi” is that really a name for a horse but as time went by it seemed to fit her. She was a gentle kind and loving friend. She was always one of the first to come see us if not the first. When she was just a couple of months old she started whinnying when we drove up and by far the cutest whinny of all the foals.
When I was pregnant Jim said “Mama your little horse misses you and doesn’t understand why you don’t come see her”. I didn’t get out there as often going through invitro and a high risk pregnancy. After Mary was born the challenges of a newborn, breastfeeding, laundry and a full time job sometime seemed insurmountable. In my heart I knew my friend would wait for me. The first time I went out there with Mary she gave both of us a big sniff and looked at me like “now I know where you have been”! Mary and Mitzi also bonded. Mitzi was one of the first she wanted to pet and she could even say her name.
The effect she had on Courtney’s life was probably the greatest. Courtney had always been nervous riding horses. While Jim worked on breaking Spirit Courtney worked on overcoming her own fears and breaking Mitzi. Mitzi seemed to understand and would never hurt Courtney.
No tribute to Mitzi would be complete without talking about her lifelong friend who will miss her possibly more than any of us. For over 5 years now those two have been inseparable. Even though they are very different they are like “peas and carrots”. Some of our best memories include the two of them and their crazy antics.
She changed all of our lives and will never be forgotten goodbye Mitzi we love you.

Better music?
OK I cut you a break on the Wiggles.
I am still waiting for the stunned feeling to go away. I am not sure it ever will. Jim, Courtney and I were up until almost 1:00 last night looking at old pictures of Mitzi. Courtney and several of her friends burried her yesterday. Our nephew Chris has a good friend Doug who happened to have access to a backhoe. Courtney said the whole time she was out there she was thinking whoever did this was probably watching her bury Mitzi. I still am just shocked someone would kill her, I hate to admit it but the first thing that comes to mind is "why her" but I wouldn't want it to happen to any of them.
Courtney had a test today in Business Law I hope she did well I guess she is getting a good lesson about things happening when you aren't ready for them.
After being sad about Mitzi, Jim and I went to bed and just looked at Mary - she is truly a miracle not that Courtney isn't but going so long thinking we would never have another child we realize we took a lot for granted with Courtney and are trying hard not to make the same mistake with Mary.

Range of emotions
As you can imagine we are feeling a range of emotions. Thank you for all the emails, phone calls etc. we are just trying to get through this and of course find out who committed this horrible crime. I don’t want to reveal any details and compromise the investigation. I know many of you are worried for our safety Jim flew home Monday as soon as he could get back on a plane so we are not alone.

Too sad to blog
Someone murdered one of our horses this morning. It was Mitzi our first foal born in Texas she was 5 had a long life ahead of her. Her best friend horse Spirit was with her and doesn’t understand why her friend is no longer with her. Why someone would do something so horrible I will never understand may they rot in hell.

Not your typical week
I hate to post it and jinx the trend but Mary has gotten all excellent on behavior and participation this week. As many of you know my little darling has a mind of her own and being one of 8 kids instead of the center of the universe is difficult for her. The other thing we did was stop the twice a day Xopenex breathing treatments the on call pediatrician mentioned it would make her jittery and said her chest is clear right now. I have to admit I don’t think she is dramatically better at home but maybe I am being too harsh.
I noticed this morning the knob off our surround sound has broken off and was laying on top of the TV, did I mention the maids came yesterday. How the hell do you dust something and break off a knob? Jim is going to blow a gasket, he hates for things to be broken especially due to carelessness. Of course he won’t know about it until tomorrow night at the earliest as he is out of town until then. I have gotten up at 2:00 a.m. the last 2 nights to try and get caught up, when you go to bed at 8:00 it’s not that difficult and I like having the extra time to try and get caught up.

Lather, rinse, repeat
That is my life. Mary gets sick about every two months, I miss at least one day of work, we go to the pediatrician, get a prescription then we start all over again. The rest of the family usually gets it and we wonder if we will ever all be well again.
The good news - I am back at work, I am nearly done with my 2005 scrapbook which gets me caught up, Starbucks has the Egg Nog latte or as Maria says the fa la la la latte (my first visit in a couple of weeks).
The bad news – I still do not have Mary’s thank you notes done for her birthday, I have hardly looked at the mail for a week, Christmas is 6 weeks away!

Happy Halloween
started off as a low grade fever turned into 103+ in the middle of the night
and a trip to the Dr's office this morning. She has a "flu like virus" and
of course another sinus infection that poor kid has been battling a river of
snot in her nose since the day she was born! She hasn't had a meal since
yesterday at lunch she has had juice and water to drink. You know it's bad
when I am offering her ice cream bites so I can give her the antibiotic.
Jim is sick too but not quite as bad as Mary. Courtney's also doesn't feel
well but not like Jim or Mary. What I have is manageable with Day Quill and
nose decongestant that Zicam kicks butt when it wears off I seriously can't
breathe through my nose at all. But as we all know Mom can't get sick
especially since Nana is so far away!
