Political thoughts of the day

Political thoughts of the day from your favorite Sarah Palin look alike

· If Wall Street (aka the Republicans per the Democrats) created this financial mess over decades does anyone really expect the Democrats can work in a “non partisan way” over the weekend and fix everything?

· Why was it so important to get done before the Jewish holiday?

· Does anyone truly understand how this happened (other than my husband)?

In all seriousness Jim forwarded me this article which does a pretty good job explaining the difficulty in valuing the “credit default swap market” and the lack of regulations. I did have to put on my Sarah Palin glasses (I felt instantly smarter) to read it but it explains things very well.

So my question is this – if Jim can figure it out and Newsweek can figure it out why can’t our government?

Is the earth off its axis?

Kansas City beat the Broncos and the Raiders are beating San Diego – what’s next??

Best daughter ever!

Called VIOS , went through their troubleshooting thing and the DVR is working! She even set up everything to record tonight. You rock Courtney!!!

So far this week

I will give you the highlights

  • Can the cleaners shrink dry clean only pants? If not my “fat PMS pants” are getting a little snug
  • Had to wait in the drive through line for 25 minutes for Starbucks yesterday a.m. talk about a moral dilemma?? Everyone who knows me knows I hate to wait in line just as much as I love Starbucks, saw the line this morning went to Sonic for a breakfast burrito (no tortilla) instead and drank the office coffee
  • I am completely fed up with people deciding the are “above” doing the job they are paid for – and will leave it at that
  • I have been sick, coughing, lost voice etc. yes I am still at work trying not to infect the office making good use of hand washing, Kleenex and anti bacterial hand sanitizer
  • Mary starts the 2 year class at baby school next week she is also talking a lot there is one word she says really loud and really excited but I am not sure if its “outside” “ice cream” “horsey” or “I see” and she is a little annoyed I can’t figure it out
  • Courtney is swamped with school etc and is also sick with the same thing I have. I thought it was a cold Jim caught but he shook it off and didn’t seem to affect him like Courtney, Mary and I?
  • Jim comes home tonight – I asked Mary what she was going to tell him she said “Daddy yea!”
  • I am pretty sure I will not devote much time to Dancing with the Stars until Cloris Leachman goes home
  • The DVR is broken I haven’t had time to call Verizon, 2 hour Grey’s Anatomy along with an all new ER is on tonight - sometimes life just isn’t fair!

One bite at a time

Doing my best not to feel overwhelmed and following the advice of my brother –in-law Chris when he was working on cleaning up Rocky Flats – it’s like eating an elephant, one bite at a time…

Goodbye to a good man

Grandpa Damato passed away yesterday morning. He was nearly 88 years old and spent the last 8 years missing my grandmother. He has been in Denver with my Mom since April and quite honestly there probably isn’t anyone he would have rather spent the time with. There really isn’t enough I can say about him, words seem empty compared to the person he was. He was a wonderful grandparent he and Grandma spent as much time with us and they could while we were growing up even though we were close to 1,000 miles away. We talked to them on the phone often and they seemed to be part of our daily lives even though they weren’t there.

He served his country, was devoted to his family and had an especially close bond with my mom. I can’t imagine her sadness in now losing both of her parents but I guess it’s a reality we will all have to face. His death closes a chapter in my life. I will no longer have a reason to go to Chicago. The house that has been in our family since the 1930’s will be sold. Things that were a part of their lives for all that time will be gone maybe belong to someone else. I know he is in a better place. Please pray for my mom.

Bifocals?

Seriously I thought only old people wore bifocals. Did you know Benjamin Franklin invented them? I got the progressive lens I hear it takes getting used to – I hope I love them since the damn things cost $700. I am sitting here right now with $20 reading glasses wondering if these are good enough?

Are you ready for some football??

Whoo hoo first day of the regular season. I am just semi excited since the Broncos don’t play until tomorrow night.  I can’t believe I bought Mary a Cowboy jersey let alone a “Romo jersey” but if she wears it to Albertsons on game day I save 10% so what the heck. Not a word about the paci – if I had to wear a cowboy jersey I would need a paci too!

DONE!

I reached my goal and then some for the scrapbook page sale.  In fact my Hawaii and Disney album are done and at home printed in their books! Mary’s “Waiting for you book” printed and done! Family book 2004 – done!  Up to date on 2008 even Kylie’s birthday party last weekend – done!  I think I will reach my goal of being completely caught up by the end of the year since all I have is 2005 and a kind of “readymade” baby book for Mary (in a Mary had a little lamb scrapbook which is too cute!) I just have to fill in the info and pictures.

It’s hard to believe Mary will be 2 in a little more than a month – it doesn’t sound like we will be having the birthday hoopla of last year. Probably just an Elmo party after her nap that day.

It sounds like Jim will be going back to DC Monday I worry a little about him getting back into his routine but I would guess he knows better than me what he is up to.

My mother-in-law is having surgery today reconstructing her sinus bone (I think) with her leg bone that whole leg bone is connected to the face bone is true in her case. Poor Nana I hope Papa Eddie takes as good of care of you as you did Jim last week I don’t know what we would have done without you!

Judge not...

On the way in to work I was listening to a popular radio personality in the Dallas area indirectly criticize Sarah Palin, her daughter and the father of her unborn child. Interestingly enough this man has a daughter about the same age. Accidents happen, unplanned pregnancies happen, how you respond these circumstances measure you as a parent and a person.  Aren’t there some topics that are not up for discussion?
