I saw this on another blog as a sidebar and really find it profound…

Lao Tzu : Be content with what you have, rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.

Being content - isn’t that really the hardest thing of all? I don’t really find myself wanting material things (no one would accuse me of being a “Material Girl”) I just feel like there is always more I can be doing I can squeeze in one more project, one more load of laundry, etc. I am beating myself up right now because I don’t have the tree up, the cards are not here, I still have a ton of shopping to do, I need to bake cookies etc – there is nothing about our house that looks like Christmas. With that in mind the most important things I need to do are things with my girls that are important to them and they will remember. I heard Mike Huckabee say on his show the most important thing we can give our kids is TIME, no amount of toys, money or “things” can replace the time I can spend with my girls. In other words “things” may be a little less than perfect this year at the house but I am going to make sure my girls know I love them and create memories that both of them will remember – as soon as Courtney is done with her finals that is…

That is an outstanding statement. Time is the best gift you can give your girls. We do tend to forget the material things are really not what is important. Relax and enjoy Christmas, things really don't have to be perfect.

We are not even putting our big tree up! We aren't going to be here anyways! Instead tonight Roger laid in the floor with Kylie and played connect 4.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with these things not done. ;)
So true about material things.
