I’ve never considered it a secret Mary didn’t come about the “natural” way. That is just what happens when old people try to reproduce. Every day I thank God that medical science has evolved to the point that is was possible to have her before I got too old! That being said with invitro there is always a possibility there was a mix up. From Day 1 I knew she was Jim’s but I was a little worried that she looked nothing like me. Slowly but surely I am getting conformation and last night I was sure! I turned on the Elvis from Las Vegas show (thanks Melba for telling me it was on) and Mary went NUTS she started dancing and waving to Elvis on the TV like she knew him.
I got a little glimpse of it this weekend. Jim and Mary laid down for a 2 hour nap (go Mary) and she woke up because she heard “That’s All Right Mama” in the movie Jim was watching. I started thinking then maybe the wild arms and wrinkled nose wasn’t just a coincidence. Personality wise and she is exactly like Jim and she does look more like him than me but maybe the Elvis gene did come through!

They were my eggs!

She also goes wild for an animated dog dressed as a banana singing Peanut Butter Jelly Time, so let's not be too hasty jumping to conclusions. She could just be a little Nutso like the rest of us. When she starts hiding silverware, bowls, and treats in her pillowcase we will know for sure that she is yours.
uhm...I am not even going to ask. I think there are somethings about my sister-in-laws past that maybe the rest of shouldn't know. Although...knowing might clear up some confusion. I thought her biggest claim to fame was managing to injure herself. I mean how many people have managed to poke themself in the eye with a screw driver putting up miniblinds, twist their ankle getting out of bed, blow the skin off their hand at a car wash...(I could go on...but won't) and still live to tell about it. Well I guess technically I am telling about it...
Lisa
OK I will clear this up - when I was a kid I put a couple of pieces of silverwear in my pillowcase rather than taking them to the kitchen. Dad has turned the story into the entire kitchen was in my bed but that is a bit of an exageration! Apparently I have a bit of the "Lazy gene" myself!
What did you think of the show??? I thought there wasn't enough "elvis " and too much fluff. What was with the girl that did jailhouse rock??? Simon Cowell would have chewed her up!!!! I must say Celine always gives me chills when I hear her voice it is just amazing.
I love Elvis... I get teary eyed every time I see him
Same as you too much fluff not enough Elvis. That girl was Miranda Lambert winner of Nashville Star in their first season. I personally think only Elvis should sing Elvis (that goes for you too Lisa Marie) they could have easily filled up 2 hours with Elvis footage. I am still pissed at my parents for not bringing me to the concerts the two times they went. Get this my Mom was almost two weeks overdue with my little sister when they went to the first concert in Denver - Dad said if she went into labor Elvis would have to deliver the baby because he wasn't leaving!
A couple of pieces of silverware? What about the bowls, and wrappers from Hostess Cupcakes? Do you remember the crawl space door next to your bed? Remember me opening the door to change the furnace filter and finding all the bowls, plates, silverware, and glasses your mother had been missing for months. if anyone doubts this is true her mother will verify all of it when she gets home tonight. I don't know about the lazy gene, but I'm quite sure the eating gene was present. Don't make me get out the old pictures and publish them on your site. You know a picture is worth a thousand words.
Yeah and if that would have happened in 2007 instead of 1977 I would be diagnosed with a eating disorder instead of it being a funny joke! Posting pictures - not funny Papa!
Upload some video of Mary performing to Elvis! I would love to see it.
O. K a little clarification. The first Elvis concert we went to was in 1970 when you were 4 years old. The second was in Chicago in 1974 or 76? We didn't buy the tickets, Aunt Sissie did, so she probably didn't think you would want to go. As far as silverware and hostess wrappers , i have to say that is pretty accurate. Incriminating photos are something we all have to fear. Do we remember Dad in the Davy Crockett cap and the innocent Altar boy outfit. Boy did he have them fooled.
It was the year Uncle Don got married 1972 I was almost 6. According to http://www.elvis-in-concert.com/ it was either June 16 or 17, 1992 at Chicago Stadium
Okay, time to quit picking on Liz.
Pretty cool that you and Mary both enjoy Elvis. Of course there was never a question of whether it was your egg. Silly girl.
