Movie of the week

This week's movie is Sleeping Beauty (Hail to the princess, hail to the princess- new song stuck in my head along with Once Upon a Dream). This was the first movie I remember seeing at the movies and clearly it has scarred me for life when the music plays when Maleficent (the evil witch) comes on I jump out of my seat, (while I am driving) it has caught me off guard every time and scared the hell out of me! I remember Mom telling me I was afraid of her when we saw it at the movies and Theresa was cheering for her.

When I heard the narrator at the beginning it has several similarities to the story of Princess Mary Lou Boogies

"In a faraway land, long ago, there lived a King and his fair Queen. Many years they had longed for a child, and finally their wish was granted. A daughter was born, and they called her Aurora. Yes, they named her after the dawn, for she filled their lives with sunshine. Then a great holiday was proclaimed throughout the land, so that all of high or low estate could pay homage to the infant Princess. And our story begins on that most joyful day..."

She likes movies with lots of singing - I was thinking Beauty and the Beast next week but Courtney can't seem to find the DVD and I wonder if we have it in DVD? Maybe Lion King...

Love that movie-- still has one of my favorite songs to sing while dancing with my girls . . . "I love you, I danced with you once upon a dream . . ."
