The miracle that is our Hopey Dog
Happy Birthday Hopey! Today she is 3 (so is Sam & Angel). The vets said she would never make it we could "try" to bottle feed her but they really tried to prepare us for the worst. Courtney and I (mostly Courtney) fed her without fail every four hours. I was newly pregnant, sick 24-7 and exhausted. Jim hated to leave town because he was afraid she would die while he was gone. Amazingly she made it, what ultimately made her flourish was a recipe for homemade formula I found on the internet. Balance continued to be an issue for her, dexamethasone started to help some. When she was not quite 1 we had an MRI done and found out part of her cerebellum did not develop and while she would have balance issues during her life she should live a normal life. She is our miracle, being blessed with her and Mary in the same year certainly changed and enriched our lives. We love you Hopey Dog - Happy Birthday!

Yea Hopey! We love that dog!!
Loved the pictures! She is so darn cute!! Ellie wanted to know if you made her a cake! Only the best for Hopey.
Happy, Happy, Hopey Birthday!
I was wondering where Hopey's cake was also. She needs blue flowers too!
I love happy animal stories! Hopey always looks so sweet in pictures.
Hopey says thank you - and no cake for Hopey although she was really eyeing Jim's. Mary and Hopey have great difficulty understanding dogs cannot have chocolate. Mary tried to sneak her some like Jim sneaks Mary the Dibs ice cream when I heard Mary say ssh Hopey I knew she was up to something. So I explained again to both of them "Chocolate will make Hopey very very sick and she will have to go to the doggy hospital"
